Jeep Liberty Parking Assist Distance Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How Does a Parking Assist Distance Sensor Get Installed on Jeep Liberty?
A:
When you start, press the O-ring on the sensor membrane protrusion so that its wide part faces the sensor unit and the narrow part points toward the membrane's surface and the rear fascia. After that, insert the sensor at an angle into the sensor bracket placed on the rear bumper fascia. Ensure the sensor membrane is flush with the outer part of the fascia and the bracket catchpoint is fully on top and bottom of the sensor's separate latch tabs. Each sensor membrane should be carefully centered in the openings at the back and the O-ring spacers must not be squashed, since both incorrect alignment and crushed O-rings may disorient the parking assist distance sensors. Afterward, insert the wire harness connector into the sensor connector receptacle from the back of the fascia. After that, attach the bumper fascia at the rear of the car and then connect the battery negative cable.
Q: How to Maintain Parking Assist Distance Sensors on Jeep Liberty?
A:
Parking assist distance sensors should be serviced by first unconnecting the battery negative cable. Undo the wheel flare in the back and, on the side of the car with service required, loosen the bumper fascia. From where the fascias connect to the liftgate, remove the parking assist distance sensor (3) connector from the wire harness (4). Unlock the sensor bracket (5) hook features by pulling the top and bottom hooks away. After that, take off the O-ring spacer from the bottom of the sensor membrane. If parts need to be serviced, the parking assist distance sensor and sensor spacers can be reached separately, but the sensor brackets are mounted to the rear bumper by adhesive.
