Install a replacement rubber grommet seal/filter in the hole of the windshield washer in your reservoir and use a new one each time you replace it. Press the washer pump/motor unit down evenly so the inlet nipple is in good contact with the rubber screen/grommet in the reservoir. Set the washer pump/motor housing on top of the receptacle in the reservoir and gently compress it until the motor housing is secured. Attach the headlamp and dash wire harness (2) connector to the top of the motor housing, after which you should secure both the washer hoses to the nipples near the barbed pump outlets. Place the forward end of the front wheelhouse splash shield onto the inner fender panel and front fascia, pop the plastic push-in fasteners into the right places and reinstall them. Finalize by driving the car down low, reconnecting the battery negative cable and pumping washer fluid back where it came from.

The service of the windshield washer pump should begin by taking the battery negative cable off and isolating it. Move the washer fluid from the reservoir into a clean container, so you can use it once again. Turn the steering wheel as far to the right as you can and place something beneath the vehicle's front wheels. Take out the plastic push-in screws holding the forward section of the front wheelhouse splash shield to the front fender and nose panel. Tug the closest end of the splash shield up and away from the panels inside the fender and at the front to get to the washer pump/motor. Separate the two washer hoses from the outlets on the washer pump/motor unit and remove the headlamp and dash wire harness from the top of the motor unit connector. Carefully grab the tower of the washer pump/motor housing near the top and gently pull it away from the reservoir to release the motor's top from the connection in the reservoir. To separate the inlet nipple from the seal/filter, lift the washer pump/motor unit straight out of the reservoir. After that, pull out and dispose of the rubber grommet/filter found inside the pump mounting hole in the washer reservoir.
