How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable for Front on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Carefully take away the negative battery cable to do the service and repair on the parking brake cable. After that, get rid of the driver's seat, driver's side sill plate, driver's side B-pillar panel and either the DVD player or rear part of the console, if it's not equipped with one. Now take out the center console, remove the rear seat bottom and separate the module's electrical wiring. Take the mounting nuts out of the bracket and the rear sill plates. Roll the carpet on the floorboards upwards and after that, lock the front park brake cable. Separate the front cable where it meets the equalizer. Then unfasten the front cable routing clamps and the three nuts and take out the front cable at its rear floor bracket. Your last step is to cut apart the electrical cable at the lever and again at its mounting bracket.

How to Maintain and Fix a Parking Brake Cable on Jeep Wrangler?

Before handling the parking brake cable, lift your car and unscrew the equalizer nuts until the cable is loose at the rear. Remove the equalizer cable from the setup, then get rid of the cable bracket that sits on the upper suspension arm. Remove the rear wheel, brake drum and the secondary brake shoe, then detach the cable from the lever on the brake shoe. Put pressure on the cable with a worm drive hose clamp and free the cable from the backing plate. During installation, insert the cable into the backing plate so that the cable retainer is securely in place. Place the cable on the brake shoe lever and snap the brake shoe back onto the backing plate. With a brake gauge, set the brake shoes to the drum before you put the drum and wheel in place. Install the cable/bracket on the upper suspension arm, feed the cable into the equalizer and fit the nuts over the equalizer. Now, set the parking brakes.
