2000 Jeep Wrangler Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Brake Booster on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Remove the combination valve and master cylinder from the system and next, remove the vacuum hose from the booster check valve. After that, take off the retaining clip holding the booster push rod to the brake pedal and slide the rod off its pin. Slide out the nuts under the booster to release it from the front cowl panel, then move the booster studs out of the cowl and pull the booster free from inside the engine compartment. Take off the dash seal from the booster. On installation, wipe down the area on the dashboard where the booster will be placed and set the dash seal on the booster. Place the booster at the front of the cowl panel, then in the passenger area install the bolts that attach it to the dash panel, leaving it slightly loose for now. Apply multi-mileage grease to the pedal pin and bushing, put the booster push rod onto the pedal pin and fasten it with the clip. Fasten the mounting nuts of the booster to 39 Nm or 29 ft. lbs. and fit the vacuum hose into the booster's check valve. Finally, attach the master cylinder and combination valve. Afterwards, fill the master cylinder with fluid and bleed the brakes at the base.
