2001 Jeep Wrangler Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Booster on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Begin by removing the combination valve and master cylinder and afterward remove the vacuum hose from the booster check valve. Afterward, unhook the clip on the booster push rod and pull the rod clear from the brake pedal pin. Ease out the four nuts securing the booster to the front cowl panel, pull the booster studs out of the cowl panel and take the booster out of the engine compartment. Take off the dash seal from the booster. The recommended way to install is to clean where the mount will be placed and add the dash seal on top of the booster. Place the booster on the front cowl and then inside the car, screw the nuts holding the booster to the dash into place, holding them in place with moderate tightness. Lubricate the pin and the surrounding bushing with Mopar multi-mileage grease, put the booster push rod on the brake pedal pin and fasten it back with the retaining clip. Make the master cylinder bolt nuts turn to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.), link the vacuum hose to the booster trapped valve, put the master cylinder and combination valve in place and top off the fluid at the master cylinder before bleeding.
