2000 Jeep Wrangler Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Proportioning Valve with Antilock Brakes on 2000 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Servicing or repairing the brake proportioning/combination valve with antilock brakes should begin by removing the brake lines between the master cylinder and the valve and then disconnecting the brake lines from the valve to the HCU. After that, separate the wire from the combination valve switch, making sure to unlock the tabs so you don't damage anything. Unbolt the combination valve bracket from the booster studs and remove it from the studs. Put the valve bracket on the booster studs and tighten the attaching nuts to a torque of 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Put the brake line fittings into the combination valve, master cylinder and HCU loosely so that you do not cross-thread them. Cranck the brake line fittings at the combination valve up to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.), at the master cylinder to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) and 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.) at the HCU. Run the wire to the differential pressure in the combination valve after attaching it and then bleed the base brake system.
