2001 Dodge Durango A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Ensure Optimal Performance When Handling an A/C Condenser on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: Note where each of the air seals is before taking out the condenser to make sure you put them back in the right spots after replacing the condenser. First, remove the battery negative cable from the engine and get rid of all the refrigerant gas from the system. After taking out the refrigerant line fitting holding the discharge line to the condenser inlet, place plugs or tape over every opened refrigerant line fitting. Then, remove the refrigerant line that leads from the liquid line to the condenser outlet and once again put plugs or tape over every opened refrigerant line fitting. Screwdriver the two screws securing the radiator and fan to the upper inside radiator crossmember and then remove the condenser cooling module. When attaching the hoses, take off the plugs from the fittings on the liquid line and condenser outlet, put the liquid line onto the condenser outlet and tighten the fitting to 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Unplug or unwrap the rubber from the refrigerant line connectors on the discharge line and condenser inlet, attach the line to the condenser inlet and tighten the fitting to 22.59 ± 3.39 Nm (200 ± 30 in. lbs.). Place all air seals on the condenser and radiator properly, plug in the battery's negative cable, evacuate all refrigerant and charge the system. When installing a new condenser, put in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of oil for the type of compressor in your vehicle.
