2002 Jeep Wrangler Brake Booster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Booster on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Begin repair and servicing the power brake booster by removing the combination valve and master cylinder and next disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster check valve. After that, take off the clip holding the booster push rod to the brake pedal and gently slide the rod off the pin. Take out the four nuts on the booster, after which pull the booster studs out of the front cowl panel and pull the booster away from the engine. Pull off the dash seal from the booster. Before installation, make sure the mounting area is clean and stick the dash seal onto the booster. First, put the booster on the front cowl panel, then tighten the nuts attaching it to the dash panel in the passenger area so that the booster won't move around. Add Mopar multi-mileage grease to the pedal pin and bushing and push the booster push rod onto the greased pedal pin, then fasten it with the clip. Tighten the nuts that hold the booster in place to 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.), attach the hose to the booster check valve, install the master cylinder and the combination valve, bring the master cylinder up to the lines, then bleed the base brakes.
