2001 Jeep Wrangler Brake Line Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Flare a Brake Line and What Tools Are Needed on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: It's strongly recommended to use a preformed brake tube for brake tube flaring, but you can try double-wall steel tube for emergencies when factory replacement parts are not on hand. They need special equipment to prevent kinks or twists in the brake system tubes and other equipment that makes the right kind of flare in the tubing. To start double inverted flaring, first value off the faulty tube with a curved shear and settle the cut edges by making use of a reamer. Slide the replacement tube nut onto the tube, insert the tube into the flaring tool and then put the gauge form over the tip of the tube. Insert the tubing into the flaring tool jaws and thread it tightly until it lines up with the gauge's recessed notch, then use the tool bar. Place the gauge without the plug into the tube and tapered flaring screw inside the compression disc and then swing the compression disc on the gauge so it touches the gauge. Pull the plunger taut until the plug gauge is level with the stressing tool, then take out the plug gauge and press down further to finish the flare. For ISO flaring, start with a metal brake tube of the preformed type, unless you need to use a double steel wall tube in an emergency. Take off the broken part of the tube using a Tubing Cutter, file away any roughness inside and add a tube nut to the tube. Put the tube in the flaring tool at the highest point and screw the tool bar down onto it. Put the suitable adapter on the flaring tool's yoke screw, grease up the adapter, line it up with the yoke screw over the tube and turn the yoke screw until the adapter is firmly on the tool bar.
