2001 Jeep Wrangler Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Proportioning Valve on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should start by removing the brake lines linking the master cylinder to the combination valve and then remove the brake lines that connect the combination valve to the brakes at both the front and back. Afterward, remove the wire from the switch terminal on the combination valve, making sure the lock tabs come completely off. Undo the nuts linking the combination valve bracket to the booster studs and pull out the bracket. While installing, put the bracket of the valve over the studs and use a torque wrench to fix the nuts at 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Insert each brake line fitting into its spot in the combination valve and master cylinder with your hands to avoid cross threading and then tighten them by hand to a torque of 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) each. After that, run a wire from the differential pressure switch in the combination valve to the brake system and bleed the base brake lines to ensure there are no air bubbles remaining.
