Can You Replace the Crankshaft Seal Without Removing the Timing Chain Cover on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?

Before getting started, unhook the negative cable off the battery and remove the vibration damper. If the front oil seal is not aligned firmly with the crankshaft after inspection with Tool 6635, take the cover out and fix it properly. Take out the oil seal carefully from its place with the correct pry tool, so that the crankshaft seal bore of the cover stays undamaged. You should seat the small side of the oil seal in the groove of the Front Oil Seal Installation Tool 6635 for installation. Lay the seal and tool on the crankshaft, then take the vibration damper bolt and tighten it to press the seal into place. Next, take out the vibration damper bolt and seal installation device, look at the seal flange on the vibration damper and install the damper.
