2003 Dodge Durango Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Before people service or repair the heater core, they should isolate the battery negative (ground) cable on air bag-equipped vehicles to disable the air bag system, then they should wait two minutes to give the system capacitor time to discharge. Drain the coolant after that and remove the housing for the heater-A/C from the vehicle. Open up the HVAC area and lift the heater core out of the heater-A/C housing. During installation, slide the heater core into the bottom of the heater-A/C housing, put all the pieces together in the housing and reinstall it in the vehicle. Last, top off the coolant in the system.
