2003 Dodge Durango Exhaust Pipe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Exhaust Pipe on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: For servicing or repairing the exhaust pipe, it is important to raise and support the car. Treat the bolts and nuts with Mopar Rust Penetrant and give them 5 minutes to work. Take out the oxygen sensor(s) and push the nuts on the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust pipe out, before removing the clamp that holds the exhaust pipe to the converter. Separate the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter front flange first and then get rid of the exhaust pipe. Examine all the parts; replace any rusty clamps, damaged supports or loose parts with replacements (or same-make items) so that the parts are aligned and noise from your vehicle stays at acceptable levels. While installing, fit the exhaust pipe(s) to the exhaust manifold and fasten with nuts that require torque of 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). Get the exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter flange together, attach the exhaust clamp and make sure the clamp nuts are tightened to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Link the oxygen sensor connectors, drop the car, switch on the engine and look for exhaust leaks touching or close to any parts of the vehicle or body panels.
