2003 Dodge Durango Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service and Repair a Second Row Seat Belt and Retractor on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: When you finish and after any seat belt service, review each seat belt, buckle, mounting part and retractor to ensure everything looks and performs properly. When a belt is damaged, torn or twisted, replace it. If a belt moves too loosely, fasten it correctly. If the buckle or retractor does not work or is damaged or the latch plate or anchor plate is bent or damaged, you should replace the belt. Always change any damaged or faulty seat belt component by using the appropriate, new and unused items listed in the Mopar Parts Catalog. The second seat shoulder belt and retractor should be removed by unlocking and removing the turning loop cover for the belt, unscrewing it from the height adjustment and taking off the belt and retractor. Lift up the trim covering the back of the seat and the adjacent C-pillar to access the second seat shoulder belt retractor and the lower seat belt plate, then unscrew the lower plate from the rear floor and the retractor from the C-pillar and finally remove the belt and retractor from the C-pillar. Put the retractor shield inside the C-pillar, check that it is in good shape and then put the retractor in place and fasten it to the C-pillar to a torque of 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.). On the rear floor, arrange the seat belt anchor plate and tighten the screw to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.) in the anchor plate, reinstall the front quarter trim and the C-pillar trim. Put the shoulder belt turning loop onto the height adjuster, secure it with the screw by turning it to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.) tightness and lastly cover the screw by snapping the trim cover over the second seat shoulder belt turning loop anchor plate.
