2004 Dodge Dakota A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Disconnect the negative battery cable and quarantine it to begin replacing your A/C suction hose/line and recover the coolant that is in the system. Take out the fresh air outlet tube from the engine air filter housing and put it aside. After that, take out the nut holding the suction line fitting onto the accumulator outlet port and unplug the suction line from it. It is important to cover the openings of the suction line fitting and the accumulator outlet port with plugs or tape. Remove the nut holding the suction line fitting onto the compressor inlet port and separate them, getting rid of both O-ring seals. Again, cover the spaces where wire goes through the branches. Take out the suction line from within the engine compartment. Place the suction line back inside your engine compartment and then take off any tape or covers from the connections. Take a new rubber O-ring seal, apply clean refrigerant oil to it and insert it in the suction line fitting, only using R-134a system O-rings and oil recommended for the A/C compressor. Reach the suction line to the inlet port on the compressor and secure it with a nut that you tighten to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Get rid of tapes or plugs from the suction line fitting and accumulator outlet, apply lube to a fresh rubber O-ring seal and mount it onto the suction line fitting before connecting it to the accumulator outlet port. Lock this joint into position with the nut and tighten it until it's at 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.). Eliminate refrigerant from the air conditioning system, charge it and replace the fresh air tube at the engine air filter housing.
