2004 Dodge Dakota Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service the Blower Motor with the Airbag System Disabled on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: On all vehicles with air bags, disable the air bag system by first removing and isolating the negative battery cable, then wait for two minutes to let the air bag system capacitor drain to stop accidental deployment before continuing. It is possible to access and remove the blower motor which sits on the passenger side below the instrument panel, without opening the HVAC housing. Unconnect the wire harness connector from the blower motor and then get rid of the three screws that fasten it to the HVAC housing. Move the blower motor in different directions as you need to get it out of the housing. Reinstall the blower motor inside the HVAC housing, attach it with the three screws tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.), put in the wire harness plug and finish by reconnecting the negative battery cable.
