2004 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Air Bag Control Module on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before starting any repairs on the Air Bag Control Module, remove the battery negative cable, let it disconnect and wait two minutes for the capacitor to run its course. First, remove the existing screw from the floor duct adapter on the bottom of the heater-air conditioner housing, followed by removing the adapter. Pry back the carpet on both edges of the floor panel transmission tunnel to get to the ACM. Take out the screw on the right side and the two on the left that hold the ACM against the bracket. Straighten the ACM upwards, so the connector comes outdue to the removed locating pin and then move it far enough to reach the connector. To remove the instrument panel harness, move the CPA lock lever to the side, push in the release tab of the connector and pull the connector outward. Pull out the ACM below the instrument panel. Set the ACM below the instrument panel and plug in the wire harness connector, so that the latch and CPA are both fully engaged. Match the ACM to the bracket so that its locating pin fits and the arrow on its case is pointing forward. Tighten the screws on the right, both to 12 N-m (105 in.lbs.) and tighten the screw on the left to the same torque as well. Lift the carpet back into place, guide the floor duct adapter onto the heater-air conditioner housing and tighten the screw to 2 N-m (17 in. lbs.). Make sure not to reinstall the negative cable of the battery until the supplemental restraint system verification test is done following any repair on the system.
