2004 Jeep Liberty Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2004 Jeep Liberty?
A: To work on the brake master cylinder, first remove the fluid from the reservoir. Later, take off the brake lines at the brake master cylinder and detach the electrical cord for the fluid level sensor from the reservoir. With this done, remove the mounting nuts from the brake master cylinder and remove the component itself. Drain off the last of the liquid by opening the cylinder cover. When you have to take care of the brake master cylinder reservoir, follow the removal procedure described in Fluid Reservoir- Removal. Anytime you install a new brake master cylinder, first bleed the cylinder before going on to the next step. Wipe the surface where the brake booster attaches to the car and put the brake master cylinder making sure the studs are fitted into the booster. Screw in the mounting nuts and tighten them to 25 Nm or 220 in. lbs. Brake lines should be put back to the brake master cylinder after which you tighten them to 20 Nm and attach the fluid level connector to the reservoir. After that, flush and bleed the entire base brake system.
