2005 Dodge Dakota Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Engine Mount on a 2WD on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step to service and repair the front engine mount on a 2WD is to disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Disconnect the viscous fan to keep it from harming the blade, clutch or shroud and afterwards lift the car. Go ahead and take out the engine oil filter and the oil drain trough. Use a jack under the engine with a wood block spread across the engine oil pan and put another jack under the front axle. Unscrew the bolts on the front axle brackets, leaving the bolts by the left engine bracket for last and then pull the axle down. Pull out the through bolts, raise the engine as much as needed and remove the left and right engine mount bolts to detach the mounts from the engine. Moisten the Mopar(R) Lock and Seal Adhesive, Medium Strength Threadlocker around the mount to the engine block and left engine bracket to the front axle bolts before installation. Secure each engine mount on the right and left sides to the engine block bolts with 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) of torque. Set the through bolts into the engine mounts and put two nuts on them, but don't tighten them at this stage. Place the engine in the frame and tighten the through bolts to 94 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), with your through bolts sitting properly in the brackets on the frame. Set the oil drain trough and the engine oil filter on top, lower the car, add the viscous fan, then attach the negative battery cable last.
