2005 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before you begin, detach the negative terminal of the battery and wait in two minutes for the system capacitor to release its charge. Pull off the scuff plate trim from either front door opening sill and lift the floor carpet to uncover the side impact sensor on the floor under the outboard front seat adjuster riser. Pop off the two screws that attach the side impact sensor to the floor and take out the sensor wire harness. Remove the sensor out of the floor panel. When putting it in place, put the sensor near the floor panel below the right or left outboard front seat adjuster riser, reattach the body wire harness connector and attach the anti-rotation pin on the back of the sensor to the center clearance hole of the floor panel with the arrow on the label facing outboard. Place two screws in the sensor and turn them until they reach 8 N.m (75 in. lbs.), then lift the carpets, put on the scuff plate trim and reinstall the parts. You should not re-attach the negative battery cable until after verifying the supplemental restraint system which must happen after any supplemental restraint system service.
