How to Safely Service the Heater Core with an Active Airbag System on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?

Air bag systems must be disabled before working on the heater core by taking two minutes to discharge the air bag system capacitor after disconnecting the battery negative (ground) cable. Housing and removing the HVAC first, then opening it up to get to the heater core. Lift the heater core out of the lower area of the heating unit's housing. During installation, set the heater core into the bottom portion of the HVAC housing, put it together again and then reinstall the HVAC housing in the car.
