How to Service an Engine Control Module on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?

The first thing to do for the Engine Control Module is to disconnect the negative battery cable. After that, remove the air cleaner housing assembly and pull the tabs on both electrical connectors to disconnect the ECM. Take out the ECM bracket bolts from under the transport cover and remove the ECM and bracket assembly from inside the vehicle. Remove the nuts on the bracket to separate the ECM from it. The ECM should be mounted on the bracket and be torqued to 10.7 N.m (95 lbs. in.) when installing it. Take the ECM off the workbench, replace it on the vehicle, install the mounting bracket assembly on the ECM, attach both ECM electrical cables and install the air cleaner housing. After that, link the battery's negative cable back and set the ECM to the proper settings again.
