2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace a Knock Sensor on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: On the side of the cylinder block, facing the starter and just beneath the intake manifold, is the knock sensor, part number Sensor-Knock. First, take out the bolt connecting the sensor, followed by the negative battery cable and unplug the sensor while you leave the electrical connector attached. After that, take out the electrical connector from the knock sensor and carefully take out the whole sensor. Attach the electrical connector to the knock sensor, then place the sensor and tighten the bolt to a torque of 22 N.m (195 in. lbs.). If it's either too loose or tight, the sensor might not work correctly and could control the spark improperly. In the end, attach the negative terminal of the battery back to the terminal on the alternator.
