2006 Dodge Dakota Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Driveshaft Center Support Bearing on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: Start by first removing the rear propeller shaft and making notes to guide reinstallation on the shaft and slip yoke for the driveshaft center support bearing. Then, remove the slip joint boot clamp, steal away the boot from the boot collar and part the two shafts. Before installing, first place Tool 1130 between the slinger and driveshaft center support bearing, then put Bridge 938 on the splitter to remove the driveshaft center support bearing. If the old slinger was taken off, put on a new one and go on to insert it into position with the correct installer tool. Set a new driveshaft center support bearing and boot collar on the shaft in the correct position by using Installer 6052. Wipe the shaft splines and smear on a layer of multifunctional grease, after which you can assemble the master splines and slide the two halfshafts into place. Slip the yoke boot onto the boot collar, then secure the clamp and at last place the propeller shaft back into the car.
