2006 Dodge Dakota Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: Depressing the brake five times vents the vacuum from the booster, so that you can easily extract the brake fluid from the reservoir afterward. Unplug the electrical connector tied to low fluid and slip a towel or rag below the brake master cylinder outlet port as a shield for the vehicle. Release the brake lines from the brake master cylinder and take out all the mounting nuts beneath it. As you take out the brake master cylinder and reservoir assembly from the booster, position it as straight up as you can to not get in the way of the booster output rod. When changing the brake master cylinder, bleed it after you take it out. Correctly position and hold the brake booster's output rod, so it can pass through the hole in the brake master cylinder sleeve when installing the system. Make sure that the shoulder and neck parts between the flange and brake master cylinder are vacuum sealed. Slide the brake master cylinder onto the booster mounting studs and make sure the brake master cylinder plunger sits above the booster output rod, allowing you to move it on with ease. After installing new mounting nuts, tighten them to 10 Nm. After that, install the brake lines and tighten to 19 Nm. After reconnecting the electrical cable for the low fluid level switch, bleed and fill up the base brakes.
