2006 Jeep Commander Brake Disc Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Brake Disc on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: First, lift and support the car, then remove the wheel and tire from that side. After that, take out the bolts holding the caliper slide in and remove the caliper. Make sure to secure the caliper to a nearby suspension part with a wire so it doesn't touch the brake hose. Get rid of the o-ring securing the rotor to the axle studs and then remove the rotor from the studs. Set the rotor on the axle studs, link the caliper self-mount bracket and secure with the slide bolts to 44 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). After that, lower the car, lower the wheel and tire onto the assembled brake system, then press the brake pedal repeatedly until the caliper pistons touch the rotor and the brake shoes come to rest against the drum.
