2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Front Brake Pads on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: To work on the front brakes, lift and support the vehicle and then remove the wheel and tire. Take out a little engine oil from the hydraulic brake reservoir with a clean suction gun. After that, unscrew the 2 caliper mounting bolts, squeeze the caliper and disconnect it from the adaptor. Bolt the caliper to the suspension element near it with a wire, so the brake hose does not hold the caliper's weight. Take out the inboard and outboard brake pads from the caliper adapter and then remove the anti-rattle clips from the adapter too. Before installing, clean all signs of rust and debris from the anti-rattle clip mounting surfaces on the brake caliper adapter and then fit new anti-rattle clips. Set the inboard brake pad on the adapter, then the outboard brake pad and place the caliper on top of them. Add and tighten the caliper slide pin bolts to an Nm setting of 44 or a ft. lb. setting of 32. Replace the wheel and tire combination, remove the stands and drop the vehicle down to its wheels. The last step is to press the brake pedal till the pistons and brake pads comsettle and the brake pedal becomes hard and then fill the brake fluid.
