2006 Jeep Liberty Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before beginning service or repair of the brake master cylinder, siphon and drain the brake fluid out of the reservoir. After that, disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder, unplug the fluid level sensor from the reservoir and remove the bolts holding the master cylinder. When the cylinder cover is removed, get rid of what's left in the fluid tank and check if service is needed on the master cylinder reservoir. If changing the master cylinder, do not install it before you bleed it first. Prior to installation, make sure the cylinder mounting surface on the brake booster is clean. Slide the master cylinder onto the brake booster mounting studs, secure it using the mounting nuts and tighten to 25 Nm. Reattach the brake lines to the master cylinder and tighten them up to 20 Nm and make sure the fluid level electrical connector is linked to the reservoir. Following this, bleed the base fluid system to the fullest.
