2006 Jeep Liberty Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Rear Outboard Seat Belt and Retractor on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: For rear outboard seat belt and retractor service, first look at the parts to ensure they are set up correctly, not damaged and the bolts are correctly fixed and if a belt is cut or torn, replace it. Pull off the trim cover, then take out the two screws that secure the seat belt turning loop to the C-pillar and the anchor to the bracket in the rear seat cushion frame's outboard side. After that, take the quarter trim panel off the C-pillar and guide the seat belt lower anchor and turning loop through the hole you created. Separate the screw that holds the retractor bracket to the lower C-pillar, lift the retractor off and remove the unit. Attach the seat belt and retractor to the rear side window, slide the bottom tab into the C-pillar, close it with the screw and tighten it to 43 N.m (32 ft. lbs.). Feed the lower part of the seat belt and the turning loop through the quarter trim panel, fit the panel in place and mount the lower anchor to the bracket so the anti-rotation tab is snapped in. Relax the strap, fit the lower anchor add-on to it and secure the add-on with the screw until it reaches a torque of 43 N.m (32 ft. lbs.). After that, fold and click the trim back onto the tool.
