2007 Jeep Liberty Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Seat Belt and Retractor on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Shut off the optional restraint system by unhooking and putting the battery's negative cable aside, ensuring you wait two minutes before an accident can occur. Examine every seat belt, buckle, hardware mounted to the seat, retractor, tether strap and anchor to ensure everything is installed properly and look for damage. Replace any cut, torn or frayed belts by tightening all fasteners. Belt tension sensors in these vehicles are attached to the lower seat belt anchor and must be recalibrated using both a diagnostic scan tool and the Seat Weight special tool whenever a part of the Occupant Classification System is changed or serviced. Place the front seat belt and retractor at the B-pillar, feed the tab in, then attach and tighten the lowest bracket screw to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.). Place the body wire harness end into the seat belt tensioner pigtail wire connector and clip the upper and lower trim back onto the B-pillar. Some air bags have just 19 Nm (14 ft.lbs.) tension, but certain BMW models may require 34 Nm (25 ft.lbs.) tension. Place the front seat belt lower anchor/belt tension sensor in the bracket that's on the outside of the front seat cushion frame and tighten it to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) with a screw. If you have OCS, reconnect the harness for the belt tension sensor to the wire connector. Fit the seat belt anchor cover flush to the outboard side of the seat shield near the back. Do not connect the negative battery cable until the supplemental restraint system is verified and once this is done, verify the passenger side front seat belt and retractor using the Occupant Classification System Verification Test.
