2006 Jeep Liberty Washer Pump Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump Effectively on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before servicing the windshield washer pump/motor, remove the battery negative cable and siphon the washer fluid out of the reservoir to store and use later. Move the steering wheel all the way to the right and use the supports to keep the vehicle up. Take off the plastic plugs that lock the top of the front wheelhouse splash shield to the inner fender panel and front fascia and then lift the shield to reach the washer pump/motor. Take off the two washer hoses from the outlet nipples on the pump/motor unit and the connections from the headlamp and dash wire harness from the motor housing. Lift up on the housing and push it out to separate it from the reservoir and then pull straight up on the unit to remove the inlet nipple from the filter in the reservoir. Take away and discard the rubber grommet seal/filter screen. Add a replacement rubber grommet seal/filter screen to the hole on the washer pump bracket, place the inlet nipple of the pump into the seal and press it all down until it seats correctly. Press the washer pump/motor housing down so that the top aligns with the reservoir receptacle and clicks when it snaps securely. Next, put the headlamp and dash wire harness connector back on its socket and then attach both front and rear washer hoses to their correct pump outlet nipples. Adjust the front wheelhouse splash shield and push the plastic fasteners back in. Reduce the vehicle to the correct height, link the battery negative cable and refill the blower washer's reservoir with the fluid you siphoned earlier.
