2006 Jeep Wrangler Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Blower Motor While Ensuring the Airbag System is Disabled on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before taking apart the blower motor on air bag-equipped cars, cut the negative battery cable to isolate the battery and wait two minutes so the air bag system doesn't drop unexpectedly. You do not have to remove either the instrument panel or the HVAC housing to take out the blower motor which is on the passenger side under the instrument panel. Start by taking out the negative cable of the battery and disconnect the wire harness from the blower motor. Turn counterclockwise the locking tab that connects the blower motor to the HVAC unit. Turn or tilt the blower motor until it's possible to remove the HVAC housing. It's important, during installation, to align the blower motor with the housing, locking it down as directed. Attach the wire harness connector and battery negative cable once again. As a last step, turn the blower to its highest speed and see if air is escaping around the edges. If so, pull out the blower motor and reinstall it carefully.
