2007 Dodge Nitro Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Install a Heater Core on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before starting the installation, do not reposition, loosen or remove the heater core tubes, as this could allow coolant to leak and might harm you. You need to replace the foam insulator if it becomes damaged. Install the heater core (2) on the passenger side of the air distribution housing (3) and install the four plastic retainer tabs (1) to keep it from moving. Attach the passenger heater core tube flange (4) to the heater core tubes (6), resting it on the air distribution housing (8). Now, slide the plastic retainer (5) onto the heater core tubes and make certain it is fully and securely around them. Place the screw (2) through the heater core tube flange and tighten it to the air distribution housing with 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). After that, position the upper front passenger side floor duct (7) on the air distribution housing and hold it in place with two retaining screws (1). Tighten them to a torque of 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). When the foam seal for the heater core tube flange is damaged, you should first replace it, then install the foam seal (3) onto the heater core tube flange. Following that, set the air distribution housing over the HVAC housing, unless you are only changing the heater core, then clean out the cooling system after flushing it before you set the HVAC housing assembly in place.
