2007 Dodge Nitro A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: What is the Role of the A/C Accumulator in Servicing the Refrigerant System and Adjusting Oil Levels on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Ensuring the correct amount of refrigerant oil is added during A/C servicing stops the system from running improperly and prevents damage to the compressor. When the A/C compressor fails internally, the A/C accumulator needs to be changed to protect other systems. When changing several items in your A/C system, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to add the proper amount of oil. Should you be installing only a new A/C accumulator, add in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended refrigerant oil. Always fit new O-ring seals and gaskets on the refrigerant pipe whenever you open and work on the line. Take off all the caps and tape from the A/C accumulator fittings as well as the condenser ports, apply clean refrigerant oil to the O-rings and replace them on the A/C accumulator fittings with the proper seals from the R-134a system. Attach the A/C accumulator (1) to the left side of the A/C condenser (2) and hold it in place with bolt (3), turning it until the torque reaches 16 ft. lbs. After that, attach the air seal to the left side of the unit, then the grille and connect the negative battery cable. Pump out refrigerant gas and, if you are installing a new A/C accumulator, put in 30 milliliters (1.0 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil or simply use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart. After that, start the process of filling the refrigerant.
