2007 Jeep Commander Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service an Air Bag Sensor on the C-Pillar on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: Start by disabling the supplemental restraint system by cutting battery negative cable and letting it sit without power to avoid accidental air bag discharge for two minutes. Take care not to strike or drop the side impact sensor, because damage to it may require calibration or a brand new unit. Place the side impact sensor on the inside of the C-pillar, so the anti-rotation pin on the back fits into the clearance hole. Join the sensor to the mount using the screws and set them to 6.5 Nm (60 in. lbs.). Reconnect the body wire harness connector with the sensor's connector receptacle and put the quarter trim panel back into place on the rear side of the car. Don't reattach the battery negative cable until after you have completed the supplemental restraint system verification test procedure after working on any part of the system.
