2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove Rear Coil Springs on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Lift and hold the rear of the vehicle with a jack before you take out the coil springs. After that, remove the nuts that hold the wheels onto the axles and take off both rear tires and wheels. Unscrew and take out the bolt, nut and washer holding the watts link bell crank to the axle's center. If there is a stabilizer bar in the rear, take out the bolt that holds the cushion retainer onto the axle on each side and lift each retainer off the hole in the axle to allow the stabilizer bar to hang. Set a transmission jack under the axle in the middle and raise it so that it supports the axle. Then, on every side, take out the lower mounting bolt, the nut and the washer that hold the shock absorber to the axle. Lift up the transmission jack so the coil springs will come off the axle and after that, take out the coil springs and rubber isolators.
