2008 Dodge Viper A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What is the Proper Installation Method for an A/C Condenser to Maintain Refrigerant Oil Levels and Avoid Compressor Damage on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: When replacing the A/C condenser, be sure to adjust the refrigerant oil level or you will damage the compressor; this is achieved by adding 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil when only the condenser is changed. When disconnecting lines always replace the refrigerant line O ring seals to prevent leaks and verify the radiator and condenser air seals are correctly installed to maximize cooling efficiency. First, be sure to place the A/C condenser in the engine compartment and bolt it to the radiator with bolts tightened to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Rear the radiator and cooling fan, tightening the upper isolators well. Make sure there is no tape or plugs on the refrigerant line fittings and on the condenser ports and lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install onto the fittings, specified seals only for R-134a system. A/C liquid line is connected to the condenser, secured with a bolt tightened at 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) and performed like the A/C discharge line, with an O-ring that is lubricated and properly installed. Reconnect the negative battery cable and then install the air intake ducts to the air cleaner assembly front and secure the liquid line. It is necessary to evacuate the refrigerant system and charge it accordingly with the right amount of refrigerant oil depending on the replaced components.
