2009 Dodge Viper A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What Are the Best Practices for Installing an A/C Condenser to Ensure Optimal Performance and Avoid Damage on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: While placing the A/C condenser, you must ensure the refrigerant oil level is correct, so that neither the A/C nor the compressor malfunction. If you are only replacing the A/C condenser, put in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the proper refrigerant oil. It is important to change the O-ring seals when you're detaching the refrigerant lines to keep them leak-free. Check that your car's radiator and condenser air seals are in place for the best cooling results. Install the A/C condenser in the engine compartment and join it to the radiator with bolts, tighten the bolts until they reach 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.). Fix the radiator and cooling fan into their new positions and ensure the upper isolators are locked tightly in place. Unscrew or remove any tape, plugs or tighteners from the fittings of the refrigerant line and condenser ports. New rubber O-ring seals for the R-134a system should be brushed with clean oil, put in place and properly attached to their fitting using only matching O-rings. Attach the end of the A/C discharge line to the condenser and tighten the bolt to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Fasten the passenger side of the condenser to the radiator with bolts and tighten these to 5 Nm or 45 in. lbs. Carefully remove all tape and plugs from the liquid line fitting, lubricate a newly bought O-ring seal and then install the seal on the fitting before connecting the A/C liquid line to the condenser and holding it in place with a bolt tightened to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.). Put the air intake ducts back into place at the front of the air cleaner and reconnect the negative battery cable. Release all the refrigerant and, if replacing the condenser, include 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil or condition the system with as much oil as is explained in the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart, only with the recommended oil. After that, charge the refrigerant system.
