2008 Jeep Commander A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Replace an A/C Hose in the Underbody HVAC System on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: Before you replace the underbody HVAC line, make sure the refrigerant oil is properly adjusted to stop any harm to the A/C system. For proper oil amounts when you change several A/C parts, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart. Anytime you need to work on a refrigerant line, change the O-ring seals and gaskets right away to stop leaks. Attach the underbody line assembly above and over the rear axle and place it on the vehicle's underbody. Install the assembly with five brackets and screw the front two screws carefully. After installing the heat shields, put on the muffler and tailpipe as a group. Afterward, put in the rear body cradle. Unplug or detach old tape covering the rear underbody refrigerant hose fittings and the rear expansion valve ports. With oil, lubricate new rubber O-ring seals for the rear underbody refrigerant line fittings and make sure to use just the right specifications for an R-134a setup. Attach the underbody refrigerant lines to the rear A/C expansion valve and tighten them with a nut to an indicated torque of 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Bind the rear heater hoses firmly to the rear heater core tubes and close the clamps. Take away the tape or cover from the cable line fittings you just opened, lubricate the new O-ring seals and install them on the underbody refrigerant line openings. Join the lower refrigerant lines to the liquid line extension and the suction line extension and tighten the nuts until they get to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) Place the heater hoses over the front of the underbody heater lines and tighten the clamps. Fit the quarter liner and tire and wheel assembly back onto the right rear, take the car off the stands and put the negative battery cable back. Fill the coolant tank, drain away the refrigerant, ensure the refrigerant oil is at the proper level and charge up the refrigerant circuit as it should be.
