2008 Jeep Commander Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Blower Motor Resistor on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: First, turn off the air bag system by disconnecting and separating the car's negative battery cable; do this for two minutes to ensure the capacitor drains. Before proceeding, wait five minutes after turning off the blower motor as the resistor can become quite hot when the motor runs. Do not try to run the blower motor without its resistor, since this can damage your vehicle. Take out the negative battery cable as the first step. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel after that. Release the door near the wire harness connector and remove it from the blower motor resistor. Loosen the two screws that hold the blower motor resistor in place and take out the resistor from the HVAC housing.
