2007 Jeep Commander A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Replace an A/C Hose in an HVAC System on 2007 Jeep Commander?
A: To remove the old hose, first monitor the refrigerant oil level to keep the compressor from getting damaged. To determine the proper refrigerant oil for several A/C components, look up the details in the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart. Whenever you work on a refrigerant line, make sure to change both the O-rings and gaskets to stop possible leaks. Place the A/C liquid line into the engine compartment and eliminate the tape and plugs from the liquid line fittings, plus those on the receiver/drier and expansion valve ports. Lubricate your new O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil, then position it onto the rear line fitting and use the prescribed seal and recommended oil. Join the A/C liquid line to the A/C expansion valve and fix it in position with two clips attached to the frame rail. Put some refrigerant oil on a new dual plane seal and install it over the front liquid line fitting, insert the A/C liquid line into the A/C receiver/drier and secure it with a 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) securing nut. Then, coat a new O-ring seal on the rear suction line fitting and fit the suction line to the A/C expansion valve, using a nut to secure it after tightening it to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). After you've replaced the air cleaner housing, air intake tube and resonator, reattach the negative battery cable. After, empty the refrigerant system, set the refrigerant oil level to the proper point and load the refrigerant as needed.
