2009 Dodge Viper Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Brake Booster on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: Begin by removing the negative terminal from the car's battery to service the power brake booster. Take out the master cylinder from the power brake booster. Separate the vacuum hoses going to the vacuum intake manifold from the booster check valve, while leaving the check valve connected to the booster. Take out the brake lamp switch and throw it away, as it has to be replaced. With a screwdriver, push the clip holding the booster input rod up high enough to pass under the end of the pedal pin, lift it off the pedal pin and throw it away. Push the input rod for the booster out of the hole in the brake pedal. Remove the four nuts that join the booster to both the pedal lever and vehicle body. Unhook the booster from the rear by pushing it up and toward the front and only when its mounting studs are past the dash panel, take the booster out of the car. Service on the booster brake unit must always occur as an entire assembly; do not try to dismantle it.
