- Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Brake Pad on 2009 Dodge Viper?A: When repairing or servicing the parking brake pad, make sure you position a block under the tires and wheels to keep the car still when you release the brake lever. After setting the parking brake, raise the vehicle by its support handles. Get rid of the wheel and the tire using the trick above. After that, remove the hair pin from the brake pad retaining pin. Strike the parking brake pad retaining pin using a pin punch until you can move the spring element off of the caliper housing, but leave the pin in place to hold the pads and clip. Take out the two bolts from the parking brake caliper on the knuckle and, to avoid damaging the parts, hang the caliper from the upper arm control by attaching it with a mechanics wire. In the end, take out the formerly loose parking brake shoe retaining pin from the calipers, resulting in the unseating of the anti-rattle spring and parking brake pads.
