2010 Jeep Liberty Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Heater Core Installed on 2010 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before setting in the heater core, you should ensure that the heater core tubes are not damaged, out of position or removed so that cooling liquid does not spill and keeps you from being burned. A damaged foam insulator around the heater core should be replaced. Pack the heater core (2) into the leather binding on the passenger side (3) and then secure it with four plastic retainer tabs (1). Set the heater core tube flange (4) onto the heater core tubes (6) and onto the lower part of the passenger side of the air distribution house (8). Surround the plastic retainer (5) about the heater core tubes to be certain it is secured. Apply the second screw to connect the flange of the heater core tube to the air distribution housing and fasten it to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). After that, connect the upper front passenger side floor duct (7) to the air distribution housing and hold it in place with two retaining screws (1), both tightened to 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). Should the foam seal around the heater core tube flange be damaged, it should be replaced. Slide the foam seal (3) onto the heater core tube and then place the air distribution housing onto the HVAC housing. Be certain to flush the cooling system when you are planning to change the heater core. The final step is placing the HVAC housing assembly.
