Chrysler PT Cruiser Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Starter Motor on Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A:
First, raise the hood and take off the cover for the air cleaner box, so you can reach the starter motor. Take the battery negative cable off, unplug it and lift the car using a hoist. First, remove the Engine Structural Collar, cut the starter's wiring and remove the bolts holding the starter in place before you remove it. First, put the starter motor back into the lower engine compartment, then fasten it with the mounting bolts and torque them to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.). Join the electrical wires of the starter motor and fasten the solenoid Battery Cable nut to 10 N.m (90 in. lbs.). Once done, correctly resecure the Engine Structural Collar so the Oil Pan and collar are undamaged. Let the automobile down from the hoist, link the battery negative cable and secure the air cleaner box cover. Then, test everything in the vehicle and make sure it is working, put the hood back in its place and lift the vehicle off the hoist.
  • Q: How to Install a Starter Motor on Chrysler PT Cruiser?
    A:
After you have replaced the starter motor, fit it in the reserved area below the engine compartment, bolt it down and torque the bolts to 40 ft. lbs (54 Nm). After that, plug in the wiring from the starter motor and tighten the nut on the solenoid Battery Cable to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). At this stage, mount the Engine Structural Collar according to your torque instructions so as not to damage the parts. When everything is set, drive the vehicle off the hoist, connect the battery negative cable and fix the air cleaner box cover. Once the stage is finished, test the car and the systems, push in the hood and gently lower it from the hoist.
