Before adding the new valve stem seal in your car, detach the negative
Battery Cable, remove the
Timing Belt, cylinder head cover and
Camshafts. Turn the
Crankshaft until you find TDC, fit the air hose over the adapter in the spark plug hole and apply 90 - 120 psi air pressure. With Special Tool MD-998772-A and adapter 6779, you can compress the valve springs and remove the valve locks, before taking out the valve spring(s). Use a valve stem seal tool to get rid of any of the valve stem seals that have failed. Securely put the valve seal/valve spring seat assembly onto the valve guide while checking it is in place. Install Special Tool MD-998772-A with adapter 6779 in the position shown in the manual and use it to press the valve springs, just enough so you can install the locks carefully without damaging the valves. Next, unplug the air hose and attach the spark plugs, then put in the camshafts, followed by the cylinder head cover and finally the timing belt. After that, reconnect the negative battery cable.
