How to Service and Repair an Axle Shaft Seal on an 8 1/4 Inch Rear Axle for Rear on Dodge Dakota?

For rear axle seal work on an 8 1/4 Inch rear axle, first lift and support the vehicle, then take out the axle shaft. With a small pry bar, remove the seal from the tube at the end of the axle. Make sure the tube inside the axle is clean and free of trash or rough spots left by old sealer. Fit a new seal by following the directions for Installer C-4076-B and Handle C-4735-1 so it is pushed securely into the axle tube. Cover the lip of the axle seal with axle lubricant before you put the axle shaft back on. After putting in the axle shaft, examine the amount of lubricant in your gears and then fit the wheel and tire assembly. After everything is bolted, lift the support and lower the vehicle.

How to Service an Axle Shaft Seal and Bearing on a 9-1/4 HD Axle on Dodge Ram 1500?

The first step is to take out the shaft when servicing the 9-1/4 HD axle seal and bearing. After that, insert the small pry bar into the hole at the end of the axle tube to remove the seal. Once that is done, attach C-4828 and use it to take away the bearing from the axle tube. During installation, use a fresh axle shaft seal in place of the old one. First, wash out the axle tube bore and remove any sand or marks that may be residue from old sealer or burrs. Yamaha DO heavier A-arm support Install 10C and axle tube P-2479. With this done, fit in a new axle seal using Installer C-4826-1, Adapter C-4826-2 and Handle C-4171, so the tool touches the axle tube when inserting it. Cover the top edge of the seal with axle lubricant and then set up the axle shaft.

For rear axle seal work on an 8 1/4 Inch rear axle, first lift and support the vehicle, then take out the axle shaft. With a small pry bar, remove the seal from the tube at the end of the axle. Make sure the tube inside the axle is clean and free of trash or rough spots left by old sealer. Fit a new seal by following the directions for Installer C-4076-B and Handle C-4735-1 so it is pushed securely into the axle tube. Cover the lip of the axle seal with axle lubricant before you put the axle shaft back on. After putting in the axle shaft, examine the amount of lubricant in your gears and then fit the wheel and tire assembly. After everything is bolted, lift the support and lower the vehicle.

The first step is to take out the shaft when servicing the 9-1/4 HD axle seal and bearing. After that, insert the small pry bar into the hole at the end of the axle tube to remove the seal. Once that is done, attach C-4828 and use it to take away the bearing from the axle tube. During installation, use a fresh axle shaft seal in place of the old one. First, wash out the axle tube bore and remove any sand or marks that may be residue from old sealer or burrs. Yamaha DO heavier A-arm support Install 10C and axle tube P-2479. With this done, fit in a new axle seal using Installer C-4826-1, Adapter C-4826-2 and Handle C-4171, so the tool touches the axle tube when inserting it.
