How to Install a Headlight Switch on Dodge Dakota?

The first step in installing the headlamp switch is to disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable to keep the air bags from going off. Then, let the system capacitor discharge for two minutes before carrying on. Turn the switch so that it is toward the back of the cluster bezel and use three screws to tighten it to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Following this, bring the cluster bezel up almost to the panel to connect the wire harness connector on the back of the headlamp switch. After that, attach the cluster bezel to the instrument panel and plug the negative wire on the battery back in.

How to Safely Install a Headlight Switch on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before connecting the headlamp switch, turn off the Supplemental Restraint System to avoid injury caused by air bags. Remove the negative cable from the battery, then let it sit for two minutes so the system capacitor discharges. Place the headlamp switch near the hole at the bottom left instrument panel vent so you can plug back the wire harness connector into the receptacle on the back of the switch housing. Lower the switch into the bezel hole, pressing firmly to ensure all corners are in place and you hear four metal springs click inside as the bezel is seated. At the end, attach the battery negative cable back to the cable from the battery clamp.
