How to Service and Repair an Ignition Lock Cylinder on Dodge Charger?

The first step when servicing or repairing the ignition lock cylinder is to disconnect the negative battery cable. The following step is to take out the bezel ignition switch ring and carefully pull the center console bezel away from the instrument panel. Insert the key, then turn it to the "ON" position, push in the locking tab on the ignition switch housing and take the key cylinder out of the housing.

How to Remove and Install an Ignition Lock Cylinder on Dodge Ram 1500?

The ignition lock cylinder can be removed if you place the key into the key cylinder first. Before anything, take out the negative side of the battery cable and open the cases on each end of the steering column. Set the shifter to the PARK setting. On the side of the key cylinder, find the retaining pin, flip the key to the RUN position, push in on the pin and pull out the cylinder from the ignition. When you are ready to install, place the key into the key cylinder and make sure the cylinder's end sits correctly over the ignition switch before pushing in until you hear a click. After that, attach the upper and lower shrouds and plug in the battery.
