- Q: How to Service and Install a Throttle Position Sensor on Dodge Dakota?A:The TPS is attached to the throttle body and is accessible after you take off the air duct and remove the connector at the sensor. After that, take out the TPS by unscrewing the TPS mounting screws. When installing, align the throttle shaft end into a hole in the TPS; if you can't rotate the sensor, install it with the throttle shaft shaft on the untapped side of the tangs. There will be some tension in the TPS if it is rotated. After fitting the TPS and its screws, use a torque wrench to tighten the screws to 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.), put the connector onto the TPS back again and try moving the throttle by hand to ensure it operates apart from the engine on. Following this, attach the air duct to the throttle body once more.
